Billy Billingham was a member of the elite Special Air Service (SAS) for 10 years. During that time, he served in Northern Ireland, the Middle East, and Bosnia. In 1999, he left the SAS and joined a private security company that was working in Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone was in the midst of a civil war that had been raging for over a decade. The war was fueled by the country's diamond mines. Rebels were fighting against the government for control of the mines, and the fighting was brutal.

Billingham's job was to protect the diamond mines from the rebels. He and his team of mercenaries were outnumbered and outgunned, but they fought bravely. They repelled several attacks by the rebels, and they helped to keep the diamond mines operating.

In 2000, Billingham was involved in a major battle against the rebels. The battle lasted for several days, and it was one of the bloodiest battles of the war. Billingham and his team were eventually victorious, but they suffered heavy losses.

After the war, Billingham returned to England. He was haunted by his experiences in Sierra Leone, and he struggled to readjust to civilian life. He eventually wrote a book about his experiences, entitled From SAS to Blood Diamond Wars.

From SAS to Blood Diamond Wars is a gripping account of war and its aftermath. Billingham's writing is honest and unflinching, and he provides a unique perspective on the conflict in Sierra Leone.

The book has been praised by critics for its realism and its insights into the human cost of war.

If you are interested in learning more about the conflict in Sierra Leone, or if you are a fan of military history, then I highly recommend reading From SAS to Blood Diamond Wars.
