Meet Giovanna Fletcher, the Spitfire Pilot Who Soared to Victory
Giovanna Fletcher was born in 1919 in a small village in Italy. From a young age, she was fascinated by aviation and dreamed of becoming a pilot. However, in those days, women were not allowed to fly planes.
Undeterred, Giovanna pursued her passion secretly. She would sneak into the local airfield and watch the planes take off and land. She even managed to convince one of the pilots to give her a few flying lessons.
