Lewis served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1987 until his death in 2020. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.

Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman was an African-American abolitionist and civil rights activist. She was born into slavery in Maryland, but she escaped to freedom in 1849. Tubman then became a conductor on the Underground Railroad, helping over 300 slaves escape to freedom. She also worked as a spy for the Union Army during the Civil War.

Tubman was a courageous and determined woman who dedicated her life to the fight for freedom and equality. She is considered one of the most important figures in American history.

Frederick Douglass

Frederick Douglass was an African-American abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman. He was born into slavery in Maryland, but he escaped to freedom in 1845. Douglass became a leading voice in the abolitionist movement and spoke out against slavery and racism. He also worked to promote education and civil rights for African Americans.
